Sheila Ann Archer, a longtime resident of Raymore, MO, passed away peacefully on November 21, 2019 after a courageous battle with respiratory illness.
She was born on May 28, 1947 in Collins, MO. One of four children, she grew up on her family farm where she lived until she graduated from high school. She moved to Kansas City in the mid 60’s where she worked at Western Electric and General Motors prior to starting her own home cleaning business. Sheila married Gene Archer in 1986 and they moved to Raymore where she lived until her death.
Sheila loved the outdoors and was an amazing gardener. She always had fresh home grown fruits and vegetables and took great pride in her ability to care for her gardens. She enjoyed tending to her many plants and flowers and had an uncanny ability to make anything grow and look beautiful. Sheila loved taking trips to visit her brother to go bird hunting and always took pride in reeling in the biggest fish of the day on a fishing trip. And she loved to tell everyone about it!
More than anything, Sheila loved her family. She was a dedicated and loving wife, mother and “Nana” as her family truly was her pride and joy. There was never an activity that she was not front and center cheering on her kids. Family reunions were an annual highlight to reunite and reminisce with family. Sheila was an excellent cook and loved to prepare large meals for her family – especially during the holidays and for family gatherings.
She leaves an immeasurable void in the lives of all who knew her. Sheila will be remembered by all who knew her of her loyalty and dedication to her family and friends, her incomparable work ethic and her strong will and determination.
Sheila was preceded in death by her father Ray Burkhart, her mother Ellen Martin, her sister Irene Calvin, her son David Archer and daughter-in-law Kim Scott.

She is survived by her husband Gene Archer, her two sons Rick Scott of Lee’s Summit, MO and Lance (Hope) Scott of Pleasant Hill, MO, her daughter Kim (Steve) Hunt of Liberty, MO and 7 grandchildren.
