It is believed that David Burr Paul was the son of James Paul and Martha Hutchins. His father is identified in the ME Death Records, but not his mother. There is a record of the marriage of James Paul and a "Patty" Hutchins; "Patty" may have been her nickname. No FAG records have been found for his parents.

According to the ME Marriage Index, he married Cordelia Ames. The record does not provide the date or place. However, they are a married couple in the 1850 US census record (without children). According to the Family Search site, they married on 18 Nov 1849 in Rockport, ME, so there may be a record that has not been found.

David and Cordelia are together in the census records for 1850-1860. They had two daughters: Georgiana Paul (1852-1915); and Clara (1859-??).

Cordelia died in 1866. David is a widow in the 1870 census record, but no 1880 record has been found.

According to the ME Death Records, David died on 11 Oct 1899 in Camden, Knox, ME.
