Excerpt -- The venerable Thomas White of Terra Alta, died at his home in that place yesterday morning, July 23, 1902, after an illness of less than one week of cholera morbus. The funeral will be held next Sunday at 2 p.m. His son, L. P. White of Whatcom, Washington, is on the way and cannot arrive before Saturday and so the funeral will be held Sunday. The deceased was born March 23, 1823, and resided at Gladesville before moving to Terra Alta about thirty years ago. He railroaded for the B. & O. for many years. His first wife was Catherine Stoyer and he was married to her Feb. 6, 1845. She died Nov. 8, 1854, leaving one daughter, the widow of John Stuck of Newburg. Feb. 7, 1856, he married Miss. B. A. Davis and by her he had five children, three now living. L. P. White of Whatcom, Washington; Will T. White of Piedmont, and Miss. Hattie J. White of Terra Alta. (Note: the name should read Thornton, not Thomas.)
