Palm Desert - Robert K. Bledsoe died on October 6, 2018, at Caleo Bay Alzheimer Special Care Center. He was 80. Bob was born on December 30, 1937 in Des Moines, IA and grew up there. He graduated from Des Moines Technical High School where he was taught the trade of carpentry. In 1958 he married Sandra Haas. They had two sons, Robert and Andrew. In 1970 the family was in a major car accident which sadly claimed the life of Sandra. In 1982 he married Kay Parsons, and they moved to St. Louis, MO. He worked 35 years for Northwestern Bell and Southwestern Bell. He also served 20 years in the Air National Guard. Upon retirement in 1991 they moved to California. He obtained a contractor's license and started a business as a handyman and minor construction. In 2006 they moved to the desert. There they enjoyed life with many friends at Woodhaven C.C. He was predeceased by his parents, his wife Sandra, and his sister Sandra Drabek. He leaves behind his beloved wife Kay; sons Robert (Susan), Andrew (Jenny); four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; his sister Karen McVey (Ron); and many nephews and nieces. Services will be held Monday, Nov. 5 at 2:00 pm at Hope Lutheran Church, 45900 Portola, Palm Desert. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Hope Lutheran Church, or a favorite charity.
