Jack graduated from Sullivan High School in 1954 and attended Indiana State University. He was in the Iron Workers Union Local 439 out of Terre Haute, Indiana and later worked for Peabody Coal Company in the Corporate Engineering Design and Construction Group. Jack worked in several states with Peabody from West Virginia to Arizona and Wyoming, building new facilities, mining equipment and closing retired operations. Jack was a member of Zorah Shrine of Terre Haute, Scottish Rite of Terre Haute, Sullivan Masonic Lodge 263, Sullivan Elks 911, Sullivan Moose Lodge and the Sullivan Jaycees. Jack was an avid golfer and the hobby was enjoyed by both he and his wife Sue. This was a hobby the entire family enjoyed.
Preceded in death by his parents, wife, Sue Reynolds Chambers on June 30, 2017, daughter, Julie Ann Chambers and two sisters; Betty Smith and Barbara Dugan.
Survivors include four sons; Mark Chambers of Millsboro, Delaware, Todd Chambers (Judy) of Greenwood, Indiana, Tony Chambers (Susan) of Sullivan, Indiana and Terry Chambers (Sandy) of Morgantown, Indiana, sister, Shirley Wilson (Don) of Newport Richey, Florida, several grandchildren; Ashley, Jordan, Mariah, Drew, Riley, Arieanna and Brooklyn and three great-grandchildren; Ryan, Bridger and Jack.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date with interment at Center Ridge Cemetery in Sullivan, Indiana. Arrangements were entrusted to Brust Funeral Home.
