Esther Lee “MeMaw” Thomas, a resident of Dothan, passed away on Thursday, November 12, 2020, at a local hospital. She was 82 years old.

Funeral services will be held at 3 pm on Monday, November 16, 2020, in Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Keener Batchelor and Rev. Jason Batchelor officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday from 1-3 pm.

Mrs. Thomas was born on April 17, 1938, in Memphis, Tennessee to Alfred and Norma Lucille Carter. She moved to Tampa, Florida at an early age, resided in Prattville, Alabama before moving to Dothan in 1976 where she has resided for the past 44 years. Mrs. Thomas was a people person and never met a stranger. She worked with Comfort Inn as a Hostess for several years before retiring in early 1990. Mrs. Thomas took great pride in taking care of her grandchildren and her family. She was a member of New Life Church.

Mrs. Thomas was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Hugh Thomas, Jr.

Survivors include her daughter, Terri (Eddie) Roberts; her grandchildren, Aaron (Kali) Hyatt and Eric (Cece) Hyatt; her 8 great-grandchildren; her 3 great-great-grandchildren; her brother, Alfred (Metha) Carter, Jr.; and several nieces and nephews.
