Leslie was a Korean War Veteran with the United States Army, and was awarded the Purple Heart. He retired from the United Parcel Service as a delivery driver in the Newburgh area for 30 years. Leslie was a member of the Larkin Baptist Church in Rockport; and was an avid golfer, loved the sport of horse racing and enjoyed playing cards.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Ray and Freeman Powell.
He is survived by two brothers, Willie Powell of Sellersburg and Paul Powell of Ramsey; his significant other, Johanna Jones of Bowling Green, Kentucky; and by many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Leslie Earl Powell will be private. Burial will take place at Fairmount Cemetery with military graveside rites conducted by the V.F.W. Post #2366 Memorial Detail. Nass & Son Funeral Home has been entrusted with handling the arrangements.
