Portland, Ore. -- Frederick William Schott, 77, of Portland, Ore., died Tuesday, May 30, 1989, in Portland.

He was born April 21, 1912, in Evanston, Wyo., a son of Alexander J. and Martha Smith Schott.

He married Mildred Eleanor Grix Oct. 18, 1938, in Ogden.

He was reared and educated in Ogden, graduating from Ogden High School. He attended Weber College and graduated from Utah State University in 1936, where he was active in sports, mainly tennis, swimming and diving.

He was a district manager for TransAmerica Financial Services, retiring in 1977. He was an avid golfer.

Surviving are his widow of Portland, Ore., three sons and two daughters,Frederick William Schott Jr., Danville, Calif.; David Michael Schott, Portland, Ore,; Capt. Robert Paul Schott, Eglin Air Force Base, Fla,; Mrs. Charles (Karen) Taylor, Portland, Ore.; Mrs. David (Christine) Bloye, Pleasanton, Calif.; and 13 grandchildren.

Also surving are one brother and two sisters, J. Dale Schott, Leesburg, Va.; Mrs. Jay F. (Margaret) Gessell and Mrs. Mary Jean Smith, both of Ogden.

Cremation under direction of Ross Hollywood Chapel, Portland, Ore.
