Edwin Ray Duncan, 84, passed from this life on Tuesday, November 10, 2020 in Pryor, Oklahoma. He was born on July 3, 1936 in Spavinaw, Oklahoma; the oldest son of Ray Benjamin Duncan and Lillie Mae (Houston) Duncan. He loved and raised his family in Tulsa and worked as a world-travelling accountant for Loffland Brothers until his retirement. Ray spent his retirement in Adair and Langley, as a self-employed accountant, farmer, landlord, and all-around problem solver. He loved gardening, carpentry, traveling, and fishing. He was always willing to lend a helping hand and never hesitated to come to the rescue of those he loved. Above all else, he loved spending time with his family. (You could often find Grandpa at a family gathering quietly reveling in some lighthearted mischief.) Ray was a loving father, brother, uncle, and grandfather who will be dearly missed by those who knew and loved him.

Services for Ray will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Sunday, November 15, 2020 at Shipman’s Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be held at Spavinaw Strang Cemetery with Daniel Castell, Timothy Castell, Thomas Castell, Gary Duncan, Tim Kinion, and Jack Kinion serving as casket bearers. Honorary casket bearers will be Sarah Waterhouse, Bradley Duren, Kimberly Duncan, Russell Duren, Chris Duren, and Billy Duncan. Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 14, 2020 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Shipman’s Funeral Home. To leave his family a message, please visit his Tribute Wall at www.shipmansfuneralhome.com. Arrangements are under the direction of Shipman’s Funeral & Cremation Service.

Ray is survived by his son, Bill (Janice) Duncan; daughters, Cheryl (Russ) Duren and Irene (Larry) Castell; sister, Norma (Jack) Kinion; 11 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Ray (Bud) and Mae; brothers, Cotton and Butch; and sister, Faye.
