Bentley, David R., 59, passed peacefully from this world to be in the presence of the Lord on March 6, 2018. He was where he wanted to be, at home, surrounded by family. He lived an abundant, joyful life. His devotion to his family and his firm belief in God supported him on his cancer journey and ultimately gave him peace.
David was born to the late Woodrow and Lilly Bentley in Hyden, KY on September 11, 1958 and was blessed with a large and loving family through childhood.
David was a mechanical engineer at heart, he always knew how to fix things and loved working with his hands. He was not afraid of challenging work and had an honorable work-ethic. He was kind and soft-spoken, and always had time to answer a question or solve a problem, no matter how small. He is dearly missed by his loved ones, who celebrate the fact that he is at peace with his creator.
David is survived by his first love DeLoise "Lois" Bentley whom he married on January 3, 1977; cherished father of Amanda (Justin) Seitz and Stephanie (Jack) Goins; dear grandfather of Taylor Goins, Jackson Goins, and Christian Goins; beloved brother of Helen Gay, Virginia Jackson, Sophia Combs, Margaret Feltner, Bill Bentley, and Michael Bentley. David is preceded in death by his sisters Lucille Asher and Mollie Bentley.
The family will receive friends Friday, March 9 at Riverside Missionary Baptist Church, 10911 OH-132 Pleasant Plain, OH 45162 with visitation beginning at 11:30am until the time of service beginning at noon.
David will be "planted" (per David) at Goshen Cemetery following the service, with a food and fellowship reception to follow at the residence of Justin and Amanda Seitz.
Pastors Victor Burkhart, Tom McQueen, and Clarence Neal will officiate the service.
In David's last days, he personally requested the service and burial location, as well as the appointed pastors. He said for his friends and family to bring a dish to fellowship. Lastly, his final request was for his family to be happy.
We will carry on his legacy and remember him always, until we meet again in Glory.
