Mrs. Catherine Calloway Dies;
Funeral Will Be Held Today

Mrs Catherine (Kate) Calloway, 75, died at 1:30 p. m. Tuesday at her home off Highway 183.

Mrs. Calloway and her husband had been staunch supporters of the Birdville Baptist Church and she had been active in home demonstration work.

She was born in Vinita. Okla., then Indian Territory of English parents, and came to Texas and married Cattleman Marsh Calloway on Aug 6, 1893. They settled on the family ranch which occupies land on both sides of Highway 183. He died May 8, 1945.

The Calloway family was one of the first of settlers to locate in Tarrant County and through the years the ranch-style home had been a gathering place for neighbors in the area.

Survivors are a son, Orion Calloway; a brother C. G. Melvourne; a granddaughter Catherine M. Calloway, all of Birdville and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p. m. Wednesday at Birchille Baptist Church with burial in Birdville Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be O. B. Guynn, Bob Andrews, Lloyd Booth, Horace Graham, Bill Mackey and Chester Brooks.

Lucas Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
