The daughter of Freeman and Lydia (Fuller) Ellis.

Sarah married Alvin Faunce in Maine prior to 1841 when their son Leonard A. was born at Dixfield, ME. Additional children included Hiram S., born in 1848; George A., born in 1853; Mary C., born in 1855; Elihu, born in 1857; and William N., born in 1861.

Sarah was widowed on August 27, 1864 when her husband Alvin, a Private in the 5th Massachusetts Light Artillery, died of disease at the Armory Square Hospital in Washington. She applied for a pension with the government on Jan. 19, 1865 and received benefits until her death in Randolph from unspecified causes.
