Melton L. Oran age 77 of Sweetwater, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, November 11, 2020. He was a graduate of Sweetwater High School and worked on the family dairy farm for the most of his life. A faithful member of North Sweetwater Baptist Church where he served as deacon and a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Sweetwater and Christ Community Church in Athens.
He was a former member and on the Board of Directors for over twenty years with the East Tennessee Walking Horse Association, where he loved to watch his wife ride and talk to everyone. He loved watching and going to NASCAR races. Melton was a loving people person.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Herbert and Lorene (Brown) Oran. Numerous aunts and uncles of both Oran and Brown families.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Latithia Crisp Oran of Sweetwater.
Son and daughter-in law, Travis and Keena Oran of Sweetwater.
Daughter and son-in-law, Tara and Ron Batchelor of Sweetwater.
Grandchildren, Kinsley, Luke, Gracen and Savannah of Sweetwater.
Sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Sandra and Claude Wicker, Phyllis and Ronnie (deceased) Woody.
Nephews, Scott Wicker and Jason Wicker
Niece, Karyn Woody, all of Chattanooga.
The family will be receiving friends on Saturday, November 14, 2020 from 12:00 pm until 2:00 pm in Sweetwater Memory Chapel, with the funeral to follow at 2:00 pm. Rev. Joe Watson will be officiating.
Graveside service and Interment to follow funeral service in Sweetwater Memorial Park.
Sweetwater Memory Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
