James William Stanton, 81 years of age, of Dardenne Prairie, Missouri, passed away on November 9th, 2020.

Visitation will be held at Pitman Funeral Home - Wentzville from 9:30 - 10:30 am on November 16th at Pitman Funeral Home - Wentzville with a private service to follow. Masks will be required, and social distancing will be enforced. Burial ceremony for immediate family only will follow at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery on the same day.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made payable to Disabled American Veterans at 9700 Page Ave Suite 101, Rm 1-096 St, Louis, MO 63132 or the Alzheimer’s Association Greater Missouri Chapter at 9370 Olive Blvd. St. Louis, MO 63132.

James was born in Rochester, New York on August 25th, 1939. He graduated from Fayetteville-Manlius High School in Manlius, New York. He graduated from Syracuse University with a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering in 1961 and was commissioned in the Army Corps of Engineers. After two years of graduate study in photogrammetry and geodesy at Cornell University, Ithaca, New York, he entered active duty in 1963. He retired from the United States Army as a Lieutenant Colonel after 26 proud years of service working as a Photogram Metric Engineer in the Corps of Engineers. He enjoyed reading, traveling, camping, fishing, and St. Louis Cardinals baseball. He particularly enjoyed spending time at the family cabin at Kentucky Lake and traveling around the country in his RV with Phyllis. He was also actively involved in the Three Rivers Chapter of the Good Sam Club.

James was married to Phyllis Ann Stanton on June 15th, 1963; they were married 56 years. James is survived by three children, Pamela (Jerry) DeGrendele, Patricia (Jacques) Klos, and Jeffrey (Christin) Stanton; six grandchildren, Kristen (Jacob) Moore, Nicole DeGrendele, Darby (Nathan) Christo, Robert Klos, Jacob Stanton, and Jordan Stanton; great-granddaughter, Addison Moore. James will be dearly missed by his family and friends.

James is preceded in death by his wife, Phyllis Stanton, father, Bruce Stanton, and mother, Florence.
