Obituary for Norma Jean Burns Langstraat
Norma Jean Moss Burns Langstraat was born November 3, 1952 to Katie Jimerson Moss and Kenneth Moss, in Unionville Missouri. When she was young, the family moved around quite a bit so she grew up in many places in Missouri, and Colorado. When she was young her father passed away. As a teenager she gained a stepfather Carl Cox. She finished out her teenage years in Iowa. She shared this life with 3 sisters and 2 brothers.
Norma was married to Max Burns in 1970, and had 2 children, Mark Edward and Misty Shea Burns. She was a very devoted loving mother. She raised her children in Iowa, Oklahoma and Texas, moving back home to Iowa in the 1980's.
In 1992 tragedy struck when her beautiful daughter was killed in a car accident. She was completely devastated.
Norma worked many jobs in her life and made many friends everywhere she went. She was very good at any job she tried. She was an optician with Whylie Eye Care and Walmart where people would specifically ask her for help.
In June of 2018 she married her longtime love, Dennis Langstraat. They shared many years together with the last 2 as husband and wife. With Denny she gained 2 daughters and several grandchildren.
Norma passed away at home on November 10, 2020 after a long hard fight with cancer. She was loved by many and will be greatly missed.
Norma was preceded in death by her father Kenneth Moss, her mother Katie Jimerson Moss Cox, and her daughter Misty Shea Burns brother Charles Moss. She will be greatly missed by her husband Dennis Langstraat, son Eddie Burns, her stepdaughters Stephanie Langstraat, and Tami Langstraat, grandchildren James and his wife Katie, Jacob, Jessica, Finn, Lennon, Kaylee, Gavin, Parker, Brittany, Blake, Brady, Brianna, Kipp, Kale, and Kalliope, great grandchildren Sophie, Avaeah, Aubrey, and Cooper, stepfather Carl Cox, sisters Karen Golston and her husband Steve, June Fort and her husband Randy, Carla Bauer and her husband David, brother Frank Cox and his wife Mandi, and many nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be given in Norma's memory to Shriners Hospitals for Children.
