Beloved, Dorothy T. Hamilton, age 99, of Drexel Hill, PA, passed away on November 9, 2020.

Born in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late Furman and Frances (nee Stein) Garretson.

Dorothy was a proud graduate of Hallahan High School, Class of 1939. She sang their alma mater whenever Hallahan was mentioned! She had a close bond with the late Mother Rita Gabriel, SSJ and a great spiritual connection with the late Father William Wright. Dorothy was a devout catholic and loved her home parish, St. Bernadette’s. For decades, she was a volunteer Martha at St. Bernadette’s. She especially enjoyed decorating the altars during the holiday seasons. She was a loving and devoted mother. She had a strong character and was a talented, kind, caring and generous individual. Dorothy was known to be avid “do it yourself” woman and enjoyed using that talent in and outside of her home. She also enjoyed writing poems, drawing, sewing, knitting and crocheting. She made many shirts, sweaters and dresses for her family and, when the time came, for her grandchildren. She even handmade Barbie doll clothes!

Her most memorable times were spent with her children and grandchildren. She cherished the times with her grandchildren, especially while babysitting them.

Dorothy had a special place in her heart for cats and dogs. She always had a pet and would take them to the “Blessing of the Animals” service during the Feast of St. Francis.

Dorothy appreciated the loving care and companionship she received from her caregivers during her last years. Having these extraordinary women in her life allowed her to enjoy the rest of her life in her own home which meant so much to her. A special thanks to Donna and Joanne. She couldn’t have done it without you!

Dorothy was the beloved wife of the late Edward P. Hamilton; loving mother of Geraldine M. Hartnett (Bill) and Ann Marie Lange (Bill); the devoted grandmother of Elizabeth Hartnett, Ronald Hamilton and Chadwick Lange. She was predeceased by her sons, Edward and Ronald Hamilton.

Relatives and friends are invited to her Viewing, Friday, November 13, 2020, 10:00 to 10:30 AM at St. Bernadette of Lourdes Church, 1035 Turner Avenue, Drexel Hill, PA 19026, followed by her Funeral Mass at 10:30 AM. Interment SS. Peter & Paul Cemetery, Springfield, PA.
