Mrs. Mandy Harvey Brown, the daughter of Ben H. Harvey and Hattie Moore Harvey Bell, was born Thursday, July 7, 1938 in Alamance County, North Carolina. Monday, November 2, 2020 at 12:27 in the afternoon, Mrs. Brown went from labor to reward.
“Baby Girl,” as she was affectionately called, worked at Western Alamance High School as the head custodian until she retired. She also retired from Glen Raven Mills in Glen Raven, NC.
Mrs. Brown was a loyal and dedicated wife to her husband, Mr. William Thomas Brown, for over sixty-one years. She loved farming, gardening and babysitting her great-grandbabies. She was the last of eight children making her the Matriarch of the Harvey family. Mandy was a member of Clover Garden A.M.E Church.
Mrs. Brown was preceded in death by her parents; two sons, Paul and Calvin Brown (Glenda); siblings, Ben William Harvey (Annebelle), Mary Ann Covington (Floyd), Roy Lee Harvey (Doretha), Margaret Harvey Brown (Clifton), George Edward Harvey (Frances), Joe Louis Harvey (Virginia), and Louise Jonettie Evans (Haile).
She leaves cherished memories to her husband, William Thomas Brown of the home; two children, Faye Harvey Walker (Tommy) and William Brown Jr., (Yvette) of Burlington, NC. She also leaves nine grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren who loved her dearly. She also leaves a host of nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
Mrs. Brown's homegoing service will be held Saturday, Nov. 7, 2020 at 1:00pm at Alamance Funeral Service with Pastor A. Offord Carmichael, Jr. officiating and Rev. Toma Shaw performing her eulogy. Burial will follow in Clover Garden AME Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Brown's family will receive friends thirty minutes prior to her funeral service in the chapel, and all other times, at the home.
Due to the Coronavirus pandemic, social distancing will be observed with a limited amount in attendance.
