Paul E. Cunningham of Cozad passed away Wednesday, November 11, 2020 at Emerald Care & Rehab at the age of 85.

Paul was born June 21, 1935 in Holdrege, Nebraska to Loren and Edith Cunningham. At the age of 5, his family moved and settled on a farm east of Cozad. He attended school in Cozad, where he met Patricia Geiken.

After graduating, Paul and Patricia were married on June 13, 1954 at EUB/Parkview Methodist Church. Their union was blessed with three children, Kathy, David and Doug. After working a year on the farm, Paul enlisted in the US Navy. It was during his time in the service that he would find his interest in electronics and electrical maintenance.

Following his discharge from the Navy, Paul returned to Cozad and worked at Darr Packing and Monroe Auto Equipment in the electrical maintenance departments. During this time, he obtained his state electrical license. In 1975, Paul started his own electrical business, Rural Electric. He would continue in this business until his retirement in 2010. After the passing of his wife, Paul continued living east of Cozad until 2019 when he moved to Meadowlark Pointe Assisted Living and then to Emerald Care & Rehab in 2020. Paul was a life long member of Parkview Methodist Church. He taught Sunday School and held various positions on several committees. He was preceded in death by his wife Patricia; parents, Loren and Edith Cunningham; his in-laws, Wayne and Rena Geiken; and his brother and sister in-law, Roger and Carrie Geiken. Survivors include his children, Kathy (Randy) Jacob of Cozad, David (Lori) Cunningham of Rock Springs, WY and Doug (Ellen) Cunningham of Lexington; sister in law, Beverly Jackson and her husband Elmer of Albuquerque, NM; 5 grandchildren, Jared (Malinda) Jacob, Heath (Keller Niemann) Jacob, Elizabeth (Jay) Mins, Stephanie (Marty) Coble and Matthew (Katlin) Cunningham; 7 great grandchildren, Raegan Jacob, Ethen and Liam Mins, Lilly and Harper Coble, and Ava and Jaxon Cunningham.
