The Giver of Life called Wendy Lee Graham home this month.

A beautiful gift of joy, Wendy was delivered to Clinton and Helen Graham August 4, 1954, a quarter past nine that evening at the Renton Hospital, their third child and only daughter.

Wendy grew up on the East Hill, graduating from Kent Meridian Senior High. She attended Central Washington State College, graduating with a Liberal Arts Bachelor of Arts degree. Postgraduate study earned her a Master of Arts in Library Science. Wendy worked as a librarian all her life. She was instrumental in setting up the Heritage College Library in Toppenish, Washington. Wendy worked at the Green River Community College Library as Reference Librarian. Wendy was working with the Muckleshoot Nation setting up a library on the reservation.

Wendy moved to Pacific in 1989 with her mother and dad. Following her great-aunt and mother's examples, Wendy began volunteering to the City of Pacific. She worked into such areas of responsibility that she was key in the Park Board and presenting their fine auctions.

Wendy loved horses. She began riding when so little, the family found a horse little enough. Her skill with horses was honed working with her dad to train and raise what became a huge - 17.5 hands - Appaloosa she called Moon Joker. She recently acquired a mare that surprised everyone by foaling.

It is so hard to comprehend the timing of her passing. Her life, seemingly so short, but actually a blessed life twice as long as the doctors promised. Passing so gently from this life as if carried on the gossamer wings of an elusive butterfly, Wendy had laid down on the couch to watch TV after dinner.

Wendy will be laid to rest next to her grandmother, mother and father where they await the return of their Savior in Hillcrest Burial Park in Kent on Friday, October 5, 2007

Wendy was a founding member of the Pacific Community Church.
