James T. Bishop
of Harrison, AR

June 24, 1932 - November 4, 2020

James T. Bishop, age 88, of Harrison, passed away Wednesday, November 4, 2020, at North Arkansas Regional Medical Center in Harrison. He was born June 24, 1932, in Stockton, Missouri, to Earl Melvin and Jessie Izta Wing Bishop. James was the last of his siblings to pass away. Along with his brothers and sisters, he was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Jimmy Bishop; and his daughter, Pam Davenport.

James was of the Baptist faith and moved to Harrison two years ago from Irving, Texas. He married his wife Betty Mercier on June 24, 1972, in Hacienda Heights, California. He was a self-professed ''jack of all trades, but master of none''. In his early life, he worked for several automakers including Ford and Chevrolet on their assembly line. He learned to be a machinist and made high voltage power transmission line circuit breakers for California power companies. In his free time, he could never sit still and enjoyed working on cars and on the farm. He never knew a stranger and family was his focus of whom he would do anything for.

James is survived by his wife, Betty L. (Mercier) Bishop, of the home; two sons, James Paul Bishop of Harrison and Michael Bishop and wife Sherry of Missouri; four daughters, Suzanne R. Grills and husband Gary of Harrison, Rebecca Lynn Bishop of Harrison, Linda Bishop of Missouri, and Sharon Bishop of Missouri; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and a host of other family and friends.

Graveside services will be 2:00 pm Thursday, November 12, 2020, at Maple Leaf Cemetery.
