Wichita -- Michael Schaffer, 59, a former Garden City resident, died Tuesday, April 5, 2016, at his home in Wichita.
He was born March 1, 1957, at Huntington Beach, Calif., to Ivan and Barbara Harms Schaffer. He attended Garden City Schools. He worked for a flooring business.
On July 22, 2000, he married Sue Ruiz in Garden City. She survives.
Other survivors include sons, Justin Schaffer and Eric Schaffer, both of Wichita; a daughter, Brandy Miller of Mayville, Mich.; two brothers, Mark Schaffer of Fort Dodge, and Curtis Schaffer of Loveland, Colo.; a sister, Christina Knoll of Garden City; and five grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Dylan Schaffer; and brothers Randy Schaffer and Brian Schaffer.
A private service will be held Sunday.
