Gary was an avid sportsman. He graduated from Gulf Coast Community College and Samford University with a full basketball scholarship. Gary was the retired owner of the Harrington Insurance Agency. He was a former member of the East Bay Rotary Club where he was awarded the Paul Harris Fellow. He also was a member and Past President of the Panama City Beach Optimist Club.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Ruth McElvey Harrington; two brothers, Jimmy Harrington, Raymond Harrington, a sister, Ava Mansfield, and a brother-in-law, Vernon Conner.
He is survived by his wife, Karen Harrington; two children, Marion Lee Harrington, Bradford Hunter Harrington; two stepchildren, Scarlett Horton (David), Keith Stephenson (Karen) two grandchildren, Hunter Harrington, Madeline Harrington; five step-grandchildren, Virginia Lee Watson (James), Victoria Bishop, Hallie Stephenson, Beck Stephenson, Kellen Stephenson; two sisters, Frances Conner, Barbara Hoffmann (Karl) and numerous nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, November 17, 2020, at 2 p.m. in the Evergreen Memorial Gardens with Dr. Steve Gerlecz officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorial donations be made to Anchorage Children’s Home, 2121 Lisenby Ave., Panama City, FL 32405 in memory of Gary Harrington.
