Dwight Harden Willis was a son of Arlandis "Lannie" Willis and wife, Hattie Minnie Rosalee Costner Willis of Lincoln Co., NC. He was married to Mary Maggie Felmet Willis. They were parents of the following children:
1. Larry Willis (m. Dianne), Lawndale, NC;
2. Ervil Willis (m. Sylvia), Lawndale, NC;
3. Steve Willis (m. Brenda), Vale, NC;
4. Teresa Willis, North Wilkesboro, NC;
5. Sylvia Willis Propst (m. Steve), Lawndale, NC;
His siblings were: Irdell, L.A. & C.W. Willis, Vale, NC; Pearl Willis Sigmon, Muriel Willis Sain, Vale, NC; Ruby Willis Cook, Lawndale, NC; Mae Willis Benfield, Hickory, NC; and Nell Willis Yarboro, Vale, NC. He was survived by the following grandchildren: Shane Willis; Laben & Lawson Propst; David Young; Jason , Christopher & Patrick Willis; Rita Hamrick and Jeannie Fitzpatrick; and by 7 great-grandchildren. He was preceeded in death by brother, A.R. Willis.
Dwight was a member of Laurel Hill United Methodist Church, Lincoln Co., NC. He was employed by Marlowe Furniture, Hickory, NC for 28 years, and retired from Hickory Leather Co. He served with the Wildcats Division of the U.S. Army in the Pacific during WWII.
