Betty Lou McCoy, age 89, of Mabscott WV departed this world with her Lord and Saviour on Sunday, November 8, 2020. Betty was a true reflection of God's Love. Her family was the center of her life and she was the center of her family. She loved spending time with her children, reading, working puzzles, camping, gardening and canning. She was a kind and loving soul who was full of compassion for others. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her.

She was born on February 26, 1931 to the late Benjamin "Ben" Samuel Malcolm (1892-1973) and Lula Ellen Thomas-Malcolm (1896-1979). Betty was the youngest of seven children. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Benjamin Samuel Malcolm (1919–2007), Paul Jennings Malcolm (1922–2012), Carl Eugene Malcolm (1926–2007), and Robert Lee Malcolm (1928–2020); her husband, PFC Donald "Don" Harless McCoy (1926-2004) whom she married on September 15, 1967 in Mabscott, Raleigh County, WV (per WV Marriage License Register, Raleigh County, WV, 1967, Page 7, Application Date: September 11, 1967); and her former husband and father of her children, Gene Elmer Johnson (1928-Deceased) whom she married on November 17, 1950 in Beckley, Raleigh County, WV (per WV Marriage License Register, Raleigh County, WV, 1950, Page 502, Application Date: November 13, 1950).

Those left to cherish her memory include her loving children, John Johnson & wife Diane Johnson of VA, Jackie Johnson of TX, Jerry Johnson & Chris Johnson of UT, Judy Johnson-Radford & husband Steve Radford of WV, Carl McCoy & Heather McCoy of WV, and Katherine McCoy-Clay & husband Walt Clay of WV; her loving grandchildren, Sean Johnson & wife Ginny Johnson of VA, Chris Johnson & girlfriend Denise Stevens of VA, Beau Johnson & wife Kristen Johnson of TX, Jessica Weld & husband Peter Weld of TX, Keith Johnson of TX, Nicole Hatch & husband Jordan Hatch of UT, Katrina Johnson of UT, Jennilee Johnson & fiancé Dean Bailey of WV, Carl Donavan McCoy of WV , Hannah Durham & husband Jonathan Durham of VA, and Clayton Miller of WV; and numerous great grandchildren.

A graveside ceremony will be held at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens on Friday, November 13, 2020 at 12:00pm. Rev. Kent Prell will be officiating.
