Carol Ann (Wilson) Rice was born September 6, 1940 in Clinton, OK to Woodrow and Mary (Blackwolf) Wilson and passed from this life Friday, November 6, 2020 at the age of 80 years and 2 months in her home in Thomas, OK surrounded by her loving family.
Carol was fortunate to have been raised alongside her grandmother and great-grandmother who taught her the Cheyenne traditional ways. Carol was also fluent in the Cheyenne language. She continued to share this knowledge with her grandchildren. Carol attended Haskell Institute in Lawrence, KS where she received her high school diploma and stayed there for two more years of vocational study. She deeply cherished the friendships she made there, and their school colors of purple and gold were her favorite colors. Carol married Lucien Rice, II, December 12, 1961, and they had three children Lucien, III, Lori and Teresa. Later Carol met David Edwards and they had one son Jack. Carol was an avid sports fan, cheering on her Oklahoma Sooners and Dallas Cowboys. In 2010, Carol retired from the Thomas Nursing Center after many devoted years of serving the residents. Carol was very proud of her grandchildren, and they were the light of her life.
Carol is survived by her brothers William Wilson of Clinton, OK, Edward Wilson of Norman, OK, and Robert Wilson of El Reno, OK; sisters Linda Beartrack of Okarche, OK and Janice Wilson of Thomas, OK. Her four children Lucien Rice, III of Yukon, OK, Lori Rice Penner of Thomas, OK, Teresa Rice of Thomas, OK and Jack Edwards and wife Britny of Thomas, OK; fifteen grandchildren; twenty-two great-grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Carol was preceded in death by her parents and her great-granddaughter Eleeyah Yocham.
Graveside Services were November 10, 2020. Services were provided by Lockstone Funeral Home, Thomas, OK
