Jimmy T. Brooks was born February 16, 1948 in Cisco, Texas to parents Jim Tom Brooks and Ray Nell Williams Brooks. He grew up in Moran and was very active in FFA, stock shows and all sports for the Moran Bulldogs. Following graduation, Jimmy helped run the family dairy and in June of 1967, he enlisted in the United States Army. He fought in the Vietnam War and was a Sergeant and tank commander. While in the Army, he married Charlene Pruitt on May 29, 1970 in Baltimore, Maryland. Following his Honorable Discharge in June of 1970, he farmed and ranched in Moran and served as a Shackelford county commissioner for twenty years. He was a member of the American Legion and a proud veteran. He loved his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Charlene Brooks; his parents, Jim Tom and Ray Nell Brooks; one brother, Tommy Brooks.
Mr. Brooks is survived by his two children, Jimmy Brooks, Jr. of Abilene, Melissa Stautzenberger & husband Brad of Coleman; eight grandchildren, Baylee Stautzenberger, Berklee Stautzenberger, Brylee Stautzenberger, Bradee Stautzenberger, Hayley Brooks, Faith Brooks, Taylor Brooks, Catherine Brooks; two great grandchildren, Raylie Brooks, Evelyn Grace Brooks.
