Mrs Bessie Dunbar Kerns Gross, wife of Frederick E. Gross, died at her residence, 819 Nepperhan Avenue, at 3 o'clock Tuesday afternoon. She had been in failing health for a year, yet the end came unexpectedly. Mrs Gross was born in Stratford, Ontario, Canada, Sept 15, 1863, being the daughter of James S. Kerns and his wife Jane Wilson. When she was a little girl, her parents removed to Saginaw, Mich, where she was graduated from one of the public schools. She was married to Mr Gross on Aug 30, 1890, in the Presbyterian Church at Saginaw, of which she was an active member, and in the choir of which she sang for several years. In 1897, Mr and Mrs Gross came to Yonkers, where she affiliated with the Immanuel Chapel.

She is survived by her husband and five children - Arthur, aged 17, Irene, 15, Fred E. Jr, 12, Olive, 10, and Eva 8. The funeral was held at the family residence, at half past 2 o'clock this afternoon. Rev. Charles N. Cate, pastor of Immanuel Chapel, officiated, assisted by Rev. A.A. Walker of the Memorial Methodist Church at Nepperhan Heights. The interment was in Oakland Cemetery. Among the mourners was Mrs Gross's brother, James S. Kerns, Jr, of Saginaw, Mich.
