Charlotte Ruth Casto, 81, of Carlisle, passed peacefully at her home on Friday, November 6, 2020. She was born in Carlisle, PA, on April 12, 1939, to the late C. Lloyd and Bertha M. Hess Ryder. She was married to the love of her life, Dale Casto, for 34 years until he passed on May 16, 1991.
For the past 50 years, Ruth enjoyed providing cleaning services to customers, who then became her dearest friends. Ruth was a very faithful member of the Hickorytown United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women. She also sang in the choir and used her musical talents to play the piano for her church.
She loved God with all of her heart. Family, friends, and her church family meant the most to her. She had a servant's heart and did all she could to make people feel loved. Ruth had a passion for baking and enjoyed sharing her treats with others. She liked trying new recipes and had a treasured collection of cookbooks.
She is survived by her daughter, Judith A. Shughart (husband David), Mt. Holly Springs, two sons, Robert D. Casto (wife Pamela), Wellsville, Darrell L. Casto (wife Susan), Carlisle, her brother, Weir G. Ryder, Sr. (wife Eva), Dillsburg, two sisters-in-law; Kay Ryder of Dillsburg and Winifred Hayhurst, Mt.
