William E. Barber, 61, of 618 Clark St., South Beloit, died at the Freeport Memorial Hospital Friday, July 8, 1988, after a short illness. He was a resident of South Beloit for six years.
He was born Feb. 24, 1927, in Roscoe, Ill., the son of William C. nd Anna (Shaw) Barber. He married Iona J. Zittle on Oct. 6, 1960 in Rockford, Ill. He worked at Sonoco Paper Products in Rockton as a pulper operator until his death. He was a member of the Moose Club.
He is survived by his wife, his parents William and Anna Barber of South Beloit, two daughters, Deborah (Mrs. John) Guirl of Rockford and Tammy (Mrs. Kerry) Van Helden of Rochelle, Ill.; five sons, Paul, James, William Jr., Rodger and Thomas Barber, all of South Beloit; two grandchildren, Jennifer Guirl of Rockford and Jeremy Barber of Rochelle, Ill.; sisters, Helen Bragleman of Rockford, Dorothy Barber of South Beloit, Shirley Crepfly of Rockford, Barb Conrad of South Beloit, Beverley Lorwery of Rockton and Blanche Moore of South Beloit; and four brothers, Lawrence Barber of Rockton, Kenneth Barber, Howard Barber and Harold Barber, all of South Beloit. He is also survived by relatives and friends.
Services are 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Rosman-Uehling-Kinzer Blackhawk Chapel, the Rev. Dr. Larry Correll officiating. Burial is at Rockton Cemetery. Visitation is today from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Rosman-Uehling-Kinzer Blackhawk Chapel.
