MR. GIBSON

VALLEY - Mr. Jerry Lewis "Gip" Gibson Sr., 52, of Valley was called by the lord, and he answered and entered peacefully into eternal rest on Sunday, Sept. 19, 2010 at Lanier Health Services in Valley with his loved ones beside him.

Funeral services are planned for Saturday, Sept. 25 at 1 p.m. at Zion Rest Baptist Church Heard Center in Valley with the Revs. Fredrick Stanley, pastor, Bradley "Tony" Gibson, eulogist, and Charles Magby, Irving Gibson and Anthony Lewis officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.

The remains will lie in state at the church one hour prior to the service.

Mr. Gibson leaves to cherish his memories his wife, Patricia Gibson of Valley; his father, Roosevelt (Maxine) Gibson of Valley; one son, Jerry Gibson Jr. of Valley; his daughter, Crystal Oliver of Valley; two grandchildren, Micaiah Oliver and Cameron Oliver, both of Valley; three brothers, Terry (Andrea) Gibson and Bryant Gibson, both of Valley and Craig (Tori) Gibson of Opelika; 10 sisters, Rudine Gibson (Chris) and Brenda (Billy) Dunn, both of Lanett, Shirlene Gibson (Henry) of La-Grange, Sharon (Amos) Spidell, Elaine Gibson, Penny (Jeffery) Shealey and Verna (Bobby) Lloyd, all of Valley, Tammy (Eddie) Lovelace and Cathy Gibson, both of West Point, and Dwanda (Anthony) Smith of Douglas, Ga.; three aunts, Willie Mae Gibson of Valley, Ollie Lewis of Lanett and Barbara Magby of Cusseta; and one great-aunt, Olivia Lewis of Camp Hill.

Mr. Gibson was born April 12, 1958 in Chambers County. He was a member of the Baptist faith.

Unity Mortuary of Valley is handling arrangements.
