Elizabeth Ann (Betty) Lewis, Age 85, of Marriottsville, died Monday November 2nd, 2020 peacefully and surrounded by her family at her home.
Born May 29th, 1935 in Howard County, She was the eldest daughter of the late Melvin Owen and Iva Mae (Staubitz) Sheppard. She was the devoted wife of the late Charles R. Lewis, Sr. GySgt USMC (ret).

Betty graduated from Sykesville HS in 1953 and married a young Marine in 1955 where they enjoyed 64yrs of devoted love and marriage until his passing in 2019. She loved her own family and adopted a life-long loving Marine Corps family that remained close to her heart for the remainder of her life. She touched so many hearts across the country and everyone felt her love and kindness in her presence. She loved to cook and to bake, her treats are coveted throughout the family. Betty was proud of her sons and a doting “Gram” to all her grandchildren and great grandchildren, always smothering them in hugs and kisses. Her presence and her never-ending love and light made her house a home to everyone who walked in the door. She would sit for hours telling stories to anyone who sat with her.

She is survived by her sons, Charles R. Lewis, Jr. and wife of Boone, NC, Jeffrey O. Lewis (aka Morgan James) of Marriottsville and John D. Lewis of Marriottsville; her sisters, Patricia Shearer of Glen Rock, PA, Elaine Gates and husband Cecil of Littlestown, PA, Nancy Prince and husband Jon of Marriottsville, and Linda Haines and husband Joe of Hanover, PA; grandchildren, Nathanael O. Lewis and wife Monica, Austin B. Lewis and wife Meghan, Katherine M. Lewis, Mary Elizabeth Lewis, Joshua Lewis and Michael Lewis; great-grandchildren, Ava Lynn, Braxton, Jordan, Isaac, Jackson, and Lillian.

A private memorial service will be held at the home.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Elizabeth’s honor to Dove House Hospice, 292 Stoner Avenue, Westminster, MD 21157.
