Michael Grant Jr., a long time resident of Matamoras, PA, died following a short illness at his home on November 7, 2020, with his dedicated and loving family by his side. He had just celebrated his 58th birthday days before.
The beloved son of the late Stella Rizzo and Michael Grant, Sr, Michael was born on November 4, 1962 in Flushing, Queens, NY. Michael was a Minisink Valley High School graduate, Class of 1980 and took college classes at his leisure beyond graduation. On July 22, 1995, Michael married Anna Maria Chalas in Otisville, NY. He worked for Princeton Upholstery in Middletown as the Plant Manager for 31 years. Michael was a talented musician who played guitar with several local bands, including Guilty Pleasures and Denamora. His artistic skills were not limited to music, he also created many drawings and signs for his family that they will treasure forever. Michael had an immense love of life and family that inspired and comforted his friends and those around him. His contagious sense of humor never left him, even throughout his illness. He continued to crack jokes until the end.
Michael's love of his family, especially his wife was always evident. He found ways to keep each of their individual connections alive and known, as he always did by kissing his wife whenever the song "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" played. He made a huge impact on the lives of those around him and will be dearly missed.
In addition to his loving wife Anna, he is survived by his son, Michael Grant III; daughters, Ashley Grant and Kayla Kutzer and son-in-law, Mark Kutzer. He is also survived by his brothers, Daniel and Joseph Grant; sisters, Theresa Grant and Stella Rodriguez, and her husband, Carlos of Davenport, FL.
