Bertha Scaman Feeney's daughter, Bertha , wrote about her parents.

Mother and Dad had such a great pioneer story. They took a covered wagon, horses and cows from South Dakota to Minot, North Dakota. Mom's sister Ethel Scaman Brown and her Husband Charles Brown and their oldest boy George were along. My folks had Maude-a baby. They drove west and landed on Longcreek between where Noonan and Crosby are now. They helped form the town of Kermit. My dad and godfather Bill Vadnais, with help, built a Catholic church in Kermit. It is in Noonan now. Kermit moved to Noonan.

Mother went all over doctoring the sick. When they died she prepared the body. Dad built the coffin. Mother lined it. Mrs. Lawrence, a Baptist neighbor, preached the sermon.

Dee Feeney was a locater. People would stay at the Feeney home and Dee would help them lay claim to their land.
