Dorothy M. Kalaher, 94, of Carlinville, passed away Thursday afternoon, November 5, 2020 at Heritage Health Care in Carlinville, IL. Dorothy was born on August 4, 1926 in Carlinville to Peter and Christina (Bomkamp) Rosentreter.

She attended Carlinville High School. Dorothy married Edward Leo Kalaher on February 16, 1944 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Carlinville; they were married for 76 years. Leo preceded her in death on April 25, 2020.

Dorothy was a farm wife and enjoyed her garden and especially her flowers. She was a 4H leader for many years. Dorothy was a member of Ss. Mary and Joseph Catholic Church and served on various church committees over the years. For many years she made the quilt for the Fall Festival raffle. Quilting was one of her favorite pastimes. Dorothy also enjoyed baking cookies for her grandchildren to decorate for special holidays. She and Leo enjoyed vacationing, especially their many trips to Branson.

Dorothy is survived by two daughters, Rosemary (Don) Arnett of Carlinville, IL, and Shirley (Larry) Rodgers of Cedar Rapids, IA; son, Edward L. (Kay) Kalaher Jr. of Carlinville, IL; three granddaughters, Michelle (Steve) Niermann of North Liberty, IA, Julie (Jeff) Behme of Carlinville, IL, and Elizabeth Daniels of Bloomington, IL; two grandsons, Patrick (Becki) Kalaher of Carlinville, IL, and Chris (Sloan) Daniels of Bloomington, IL, as well as 8 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a great grandson; and six siblings; two sisters, Margaret Bloome and Louise Woods. Four brothers; Vic, Elmer, Walt and Ed Rosentreter.

Due to the Covid-19 Virus private family services will be held at Davis-Anderson Funeral Home in Carlinville with burial in New Calvary Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Carlinville Food Pantry or Saint Vincent DePaul.
