He retired from Lucent Technologies in 2003 after 30 years of service and formerly worked for Western Electric in Indianapolis, IN before transferring to OKC in 1985. He was a graduate of Wayne County High School, he was a Mason and an avid golfer.
He is survived by one son, Derek Lain Barnett of OKC; one grandson, Mason Gene Barnett of OKC; four brothers, George K. (Creola) Barnett of Monticello, KY, Floyd (Joyce) Barnett of Clearwater, FL, James Barnett of OKC, Barton (Barbara) Barnett of Indianapolis, IN; four sisters, Pauline Tweedy of Greenfield, IN, Christine Taylor of Monticello, KY, Maudie Daws of Monticello, KY, Margaret (David) Isbell of Somerset, KY; several nieces and nephews; his girlfriend, D. Renee Hildebrant; and a host of friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant sister.
A memorial service to celebrate his life will be 2:00 PM Friday at Vondel Smith South Colonial Chapel.
