Carrie Mae Bennett of Hillside, N.J., peacefully departed this life on Monday, Jan. 23, 2017, surrounded by family.
A celebration of her life will start with visitation on Saturday, Jan. 28, 2017, from 8 to 10 a.m. at Phillips Metropolitan CME Church, 27 Morris Ave., Newark, N.J. Services will follow at 10 a.m. and interment will be held at Hollywood Memorial Park, 1500 Stuyvesant Ave., Union, N.J. 07083. Arrangements are by Whigham Funeral Home, Newark.
Carrie leaves to mourn her husband, Louis; two children, Roderick Jefferson and Tenisha Bennett; Jason Bennett (reared as son); grandson, Dante Aikens; two great-grandsons, Dante Aikens Jr., and Justice Levi Aikens; her sisters, Victoria Levine and Mildred (Oswald) Prioleau; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
