Carol Peterson, age 74, of Gary, IN passed away on February 13, 2012 at Methodist Hospital Southlake after a lengthy illness. She is a member of St. Mark AME Zion Church where she served on the Usher Board #2 and the Soup Kitchen. A graduate of East Chicago Washington High School class of "1955" and Cortez Peters Business College. She worked as a secretary for the Gary Community School Corp and retired from Horace Mann High School. Carol is preceded in death by her parents: Sylvester and Alma Logan; son, Brian Peterson; daughter, Donna Peterson; and sister, Beverly Whitaker. She is survived by her husband, Edward Peterson; sons: Ronald Peterson, Kevin Peterson and Michael Peterson; nine grandchildren; three great grandchildren; sister, Wilma (James) Brown; aunt, Virginia Bradford; sisters-in-law: Dolores Knox and Joyce (Howard) Harper; several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Visitation Wednesday February 22, 2012 from 9:00-11:00 AM with funeral services to follow at 11:00 AM both at St. Mark AME Zion Church 4200 Adler Street East Chicago, IN. Rev.George C.W.
