Mr. Gary Edmond Strickland, 61, died Saturday, November 7, 2020 at Rex Hospital in Raleigh. Mr. Strickland was born in Harnett County on April 27, 1959 to Katherine Baker Strickland and the late Jack Strickland.

Mr. Strickland worked for many years as Service Manager with Carver Equipment in Dunn and was owner and operator of BST Equipment for the last seven years. In his younger days, he was a volunteer firefighter with the City of Dunn. Mr. Strickland was an avid bass fisherman. He was past president of the NC Bass Masters Club. Mr. Strickland loved classic cars and used to drag race at the Dunn Benson Drag Strip. Mr. Strickland was a “picker” and thoroughly enjoyed collecting at estate and antique auctions. His greatest love was his family. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, son, and brother. He will surely be missed by many.

A funeral service to celebrate his life will be held Monday, November 9, 2020 at Skinner & Smith Funeral Home in Dunn. Burial will follow in Memorial Cemetery in Dunn.

Mr. Strickland is survived by his wife of 41 years, Phyllis Strickland, daughters, Amanda Hall & husband Jason, Ashley Kee & husband Matthew, his mother, Katherine Strickland; brother, Joey Strickland & wife Peggy; sister; Dean Capps & husband Tony; and grandchildren, Eston Hall, Ireland Hall, and Kobe Kee.

The family will receive friends Monday, November 9, 2020 at 10 a.m., one hour prior to the service at Skinner & Smith Funeral Home.
