Julia James CARTERVILLE — Julia Ann James, 79, of Carterville, passed away on Feb. 17, 2016, at home, surrounded by her family. Julia was born on Dec. 30, 1936, in DuBois to Herman F. and Alfie E. (Adams) Chapman. She is survived by her loving daughter, Mitzi Moore and her fiancé Mark Poore of Carterville; best friend and companion, Al Jabr of Carterville; grandchildren and their spouses, Misty and J.P. Mowrer and Shane and Stephanie Moore, all of Carterville, and Ryan and Patricia Moore of Carbondale; great-grandchildren, Owen and Lilah Mowrer, Erin, Kara, Jackson, Skylar, Eislee and Reagan Moore; daughter-in-law Tanya Moore of DeSoto; sisters Vera Bigham of Pinckneyville and Phyllis Woodside of Tamaroa; brothers and sisters-in-law Donald and Louise Chapman of Tamaroa, Larry and Rosemary Chapman of New Caney, Texas, Richard Chapman of Golconda and Roger Chapman of New Caney, Texas; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and her faithful companion, Taco. Julia was preceded in death by her parents and son Michael Moore. She owned and operated C & J Enterprises in Carterville for more than 30 years. Julia was a member of First Baptist Church in Carterville. She was also a member of Who’s Who Women in Business, where she was honored with several awards. Julia was in the top 100 dealers for U-Haul out of the 15,000 dealers in the U.S. and Canada. Julia was very active in donating to various charitable organizations over the years. She was a talented seamstress and enjoyed crocheting. Funeral services were held on Saturday Feb. 20, 2016, at Riggin-Pillatsch and Burke Funeral Home in Carterville, with Pastor Bob Wynn officiating. Burial was in Tamaroa City Cemetery.
