Born on November 1, 1921, she was the eldest child of the late Harvey Jackson Gilmore and Ethel Gertrude McCarty Gilmore.
She married Dorsey Millwood in 1941. They set up their home in Americus where they resided the remainder of their lives. Moncile worked at Manhattan Shirt company for over 20 years. She left there and worked in various jobs until she became manager of Ashley’s Outlet Store. She retired in 1988. She was a member of WMU from Bethel Baptist Church.
Graveside services will be held at Sunset Memorial Gardens on Friday November 6, 2020 at 10:00 AM with Edgar Player officiating.
Moncile was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Dorsey Hugh Millwood, daughter, Marcia Jean Millwood Player, son-in-law, Richard B. Player, son, Larry Hugh Millwood, her brothers, Harry Gilmore, Hoyt Gilmore, Robert Edward Gilmore, James Monroe Gilmore and his wife Jean Emory Gordon Gilmore, her sister Marvella and her husband Bob Culberson.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to be made to Bethel Baptist Church, 846 Land Store Rd. Americus, GA. 31709, The Sumter Humane Society 108 Industrial Blvd. Americus, GA. 31709, or to a charity of one’s choice.
