Elizabeth Janet Teel of Collinsville passed away Friday morning, October 30. She was 76. In addition to Parkinson's Disease for more than 13 years she died of heart failure. She was born in Pasadena, CA on September 29, 1944 to Leon and Betty Slater. At two years old, her Mother left her and her older brother with her Grandparents in California and has never been seen since.
Leon completed his Army service and moved to Oklahoma City where he remarried. Janet grew up in Oklahoma City and attended U. S. Grant High School. After high school she married Wilson Wilhite and together they had two children. A son Glen and a daughter Deidre (Domino). Following a divorce she worked as a Secretary for various Oil companies in Oklahoma City. She was working for Thomas Engineering when she first met Luther Teel at a golf tournament. She would see Luther from time to time when he would come to call on different engineers with the company where she worked. She asked Luther to be her date to the Texas Oil and Gas Christmas party on Friday, the 13th of December. After dating Luther two months they got married on Valentine's Day in 1975 and moved to London two and a half months later on May 1st.

Upon returning from London they moved to Tulsa in 1976. She again worked as a secretary for a law firm. She and Luther bought a small farm northwest of Collinsville. They built a new house, a dairy barn, and helped the kids with their 4-H project and started milking cows. After 4 stints in milking they sold the equipment after the fourth time to be unable to start up again. She also helped with raising beef cattle and baling hay. She was truly a great lady.

She completed her Associate Degree in Nursing in 1994 at Tulsa Junior College. As an RN she started her career in Oncology then to Home Health then to Hospice. She loved Hospice and retired from Hospice of Green Country in 2009. She had a favorite saying "Dying doesn't bother me, but living scares the heck out of me".

She is survived by her husband Luther of Collinsville, Son Glen Wilhite of Claremore, Daughter Deidre Stone of Inola and two Grandsons that she absolutely adored, Trace Stone of Broken Arrow and Conner Stone of Stillwater. She was an avid quilter and loved cooking and has acquired many many friends along the way. Vialife Hospice of Pryor, OK was caring for her at the time of her death.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Vialife Hospice in her Honor.

There will be a celebration of life at the Will Rogers Museum in Claremore at 12:00 noon on Friday the 13th of November. It is a celebration of life. Dress is casual but Masks are REQUIRED.

The family is grateful to Vialife Hospice who did such a tremendous job with the care for Janet. Anyone who wishes will be welcome to speak at the celebration. Janet is in Heaven and will be watching. Say nice things!!!
