Louise Dorothy Schmidt was born on January 7, 1887 at Red Fern Table, Custer County, Nebraska, to Johann and Katherina (Wenzel) Schmidt. Louise was just one year old when her father, Johann, fell to his death (January 1888) from a windmill in Custer County.
Louise mother, Katherina Schmidt, was later united in marriage to Johan Georg Biemuller on May 15, 1889 at the First Lutheran Church, Buffalo, Dawson County, Nebraska. Louise was two years old at that time.
Louise was educated in the Buffalo community and confirmed on March 31, 1901 at the First Lutheran Church at Buffalo.
Louise Dorothy Schmidt was united in marriage to John Pete Spegel on October 12, 1909 at the First Lutheran Church at Buffalo. To this union were born nine children: Charles, Fredrick, Dorothe, Wilhelm, Marie, Henry, Josephine, Helen and Albert.
Louise lived all her life in Dawson County, Nebraska, until going to Oregon, about five years before her death in Portland, Oregon.
Final rites for Mrs. Louise Spegel were conducted Thursday, December 15 in Trinity Lutheran Church, Lexington, Nebraska. Rev. Victor Jordening will officiate. Burial was in the Buffalo First Lutheran Cemetery.
