Born and raised in New Jersey, he was the son of James Sr. and Selma Millar. Jim proudly served his country in the US Navy during World War II on the aircraft carrier the USS Wright. He graduated from Rutgers University in 1952. He chose a career in Labor Relations and Personnel and worked at several companies including RCA, Data General, and Fenwal. Serving the community was an important part of Jim’s life. He was a member of the Algonquin Regional School Committee for 10 years and coached for many years in the Northborough Youth Baseball program. As a dedicated family man, he could often be found at the sporting events and activities of his children and grandchildren.
He was an avid reader, enjoyed his weekly game of golf, and could fix anything in his well- stocked and highly organized workshop. He loved the beach, especially the Jersey shore.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, April 11, 2018 from 4-7 p.m. at Hays Funeral Home, 56 Main St., Northborough. A graveside service will take place privately. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you make the time to spend a day with someone you love. Donations may also be made in Jim’s memory to Boros Cares 4 Troops (BC4T), PO Box 304, Northborough, MA 01532.
