In Flagstaff, Arizona, November 2, 1986. Robert Lee Cummings was born in Stockton, California on September 15, 1944. He died on a plane crash on November 2, 1986. He was the husband of Joan Ellen Higdon Cummings. He is survived by a daughter, Pamela Cummings of Flagstaff, Arizona. HIs parents are Robert Neil Cummings and the late Louise Ciarietta Cummings of Stockton. Bob is also survived by two sisters, Carolyn Cummings and Patricia Stacher of Stockton; two brothers, John Cummings of San Lorenzo and Dr. Phillip Cummings of Los Gatos. There were three nieces surviving. Bob Cummings was graduated from Linden High School, where he was active in the sports of football and wrestling. In his senior year he was undefeated in wrestling. He was active in 4-H work, showing his leadership by holding many elective offices including the presidency of his group. He attended San Joaquin Delta College in Stockton and was graduated from the University of California at Davis with a degree in Civil and Mechanical Engineering. Bob was married to Joan HIgdon in 1964. In 1976 he moved with family to Kayenta, Arizona where he was employed by Granite Construction Company in land reclamation. At the time of his death, he was superintendent of the Black Mesa Mine Reclamation Project. The family moved to Flagstaff in 1979, and he commuted.. He and his wife were avid gardeners with their gardens winning prizes for it's beauty. He was a seasoned pilot and spent much time piloting his planes. He was a follower of all sports at the University of Northern Arizona where his daughter is a student.
