Jesse Willoughby Allison Steckley, 95, of Vincennes, passed away on Wednesday, November 4, 2020 at GentleCare of Vincennes.

She was born May 6, 1925, in Washington, Indiana, to Royal G. and Iva (Waggoner) Allison.

Willoughby retired from the Vincennes Community School Corporation where she had taught for many years at Clark Junior High. She graduated from Indiana Central College and earned her master’s degree from Indiana State University. Her memberships include Franklin Heights Christian Church in where she was very active, the Fortnightly Club, and the Retired Teachers Association. Willoughby enjoyed reading, caring for her cat, and volunteering at Helping His Hands and at Good Samaritan Hospital for over 20 years.

Surviving are a daughter Linda Russell and her husband John “Jerry” of Palestine, Illinois; a son Dennis Steckley of Palestine; sisters Edith Conrow of Franklin, Indiana, and Doris Powell of Gainesville, FL, along with her granddaughter Shannon Rogers and her husband Jeremy, and one great granddaughter Taylor Rogers; and several nieces and nephews.

Her husband, Allen Lee Steckley, whom she married on April 2, 1947, preceded her in death on August 26, 1950. She was also preceded by her parents and her sister Opal Radcliffe of Washington, IN.

Private services will be held Saturday, November 7, 2020 at noon. Burial will be in Bethany Cemetery in Washington, IN. Memorial contributions may be made to Helping His Hands or Franklin Heights Christian Church
