Obituary for Roy Lyndol Roberts
Roy was born in Bug Tussle, Texas Born: November 29, 1935 and passed away October 20, 2020. Roy married Nelda Turman on July 1, 1955. Roy held many titles and roles during his career working early in life as a Dallas Reserve Police officer and was active with civic groups including the Rotary Club and the Dallas Chamber of Commerce. Roy also served as a Deacon at Military Parkway Church of Christ and also served as President of the Lone Star Gas Credit union. Roy retired from Lone Star Gas after 43 years of service as Vice President of the Lone Star Gas Dallas region.
Preceded in death by parents Roy D. and Mildred Roberts and brother Ronnie Roberts.
During his Lone Star career Roy and Nelda lived in Mesquite, Abilene, and Richardson and were active members of the Waterview Church Christ in Richardson, Southern Hills Church of Christ in Abilene, Western Heights in Sherman, and currently members at Eastridge Church of Christ. After his retirement in 1992 Roy built their dream home outside Sherman, Texas and Roy started Lyndol’s Contract Service and continued to work up until a few months before his death. Roy enjoyed flying obtaining his pilot’s license while working in Abilene. They enjoyed and hosted many friends, family, and church members during their time at Sherman. Roy enjoyed his grandchildren and great grandchildren along with hunting and working on their land and enjoying his horse friend Harley. Roy and Nelda moved to Rockwall in April 2018 to be close to family.
Survived By: Wife of 65 years Nelda Roberts, son Mark Roberts of Dallas, daughters Terrie Gibson and husband Mike of Forney, Texas and Stefani Carter and husband Gene of Graham, Texas. 4 grandchildren Brent Jordan and wife Bria, Erica Verble and husband Adam, Eric Gibson and wife Hanna, and Blake Jordan and wife Ashlyn and 10 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings, sisters JoAnn Braley and Francis Holcomb, brothers Randy Roberts, H.B. Roberts, and Michael Roberts.
