Mrs. Peters, 96, of Rochester, died Tuesday (Sept. 25, 2007) at Maple Manor Healthcare and Rehabilitation.
Mildred Florence Anding was born Dec. 25, 1910, in Gillford Township, Wabasha County. A 1928 graduate of Mazeppa High School, she attended teachers' training in Lake City and then Winona State Teachers College. She taught in the rural schools of Wabasha County for several years. On June 22, 1937, she married Walter Peters in Lake City. The couple farmed in the South Troy area before moving to Rochester in 1981. Her husband died in 1995.
In addition to her years as a teacher, Mrs. Peters served as a teacher's aide in the Zumbro Falls School for 10 years. She was a leader with the Dresser Valley 4-H Club in Olmsted County and was a member of the 4-H Alumni Association of Olmsted County. She was also a member of the Zumbro Willing Workers' Home Extension Group; was an officer in the Zumbro Farm Bureau; and was a longtime member of the Millville Senior Citizens and Immanuel Lutheran Church in Potsdam.
Survivors include three sons, Wayne (Karmyn) of Rochester, Kenneth of Davenport, Iowa, and Gerald (Claudia) of Kiowa, Colo.; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers.
Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at Ranfranz & Vine Funeral Homes in Rochester, and an hour before the service Friday at the church.
