Anna Belle Jones Mullins, 93, widow of William Mullins since 1983, joined her husband in eternal rest on Wednesday, November 4. She was born January 30, 1927 in Beattyville, KY to the late Pryse and Lue Holloway Jones. Anna was described as a mountain woman, tough but caring. She enjoyed working on embroidery and caring for her flowers. She was self-employed, cleaning houses and ironing for a loyal clientele in the community, and had a well-earned reputation for being honest and trustworthy as she worked in people’s homes. She was known to speak her mind and take great pride in her work. Anna lived in the same house on Ross Street for 50 years, and was proud to be named “The Mayor of Ross Street” by the Kentucky House of Representatives on her 90th birthday, which was a wonderful event. She was presented the Key to the City of Nicholasville by the Mayor and City Commissioners, and they, as well as the County Judge Executive, proclaimed that January 30, 2017 as Anna Belle Jones Mullins Day in Nicholasville and Jessamine County. Anna leaves her memories with her children William Mullins, Jr., wife Cary, and Phyllis Johnson, husband Donald; grandchildren Bobby Joe Mullins and Jessica Mullins Riester; six great grandchildren Victoria, Payton, Carrigan, and Isabel Grace Mullins, Paxton Riester, and Dalton Perry; and a great great grandchild. She leaves her childhood memories with her brother, Conley Jones of Beattyville. Anna will also be remembered fondly by special family friend Billy Savage, who had faithfully visited her once a week since the death of her husband. Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Imogene Shoemaker, Opal Palmer, and Leona Patton. Anna will be honored at a Remembrance Service at 1:00 PM Friday, November 6, at Hager & Cundiff Funeral Home, after which she will be laid to rest beside her husband in Maple Grove Cemetery. The service will be live-streamed on the Hager & Cundiff Facebook and YouTube pages. Serving as pallbearers are Jr. Mullins, Karl Riester, Payton Mullins, Kyle Stinnett, David Denny, and Donald Johnson. Anna’s family will greet friends Thursday, November 5, at the funeral home beginning at 2:00 PM and ending at 7:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Bluegrass Care Navigators (formerly Bluegrass Hospice Care) in Anna’s memory. In order to keep everyone safe, the family reminds all friends to please wear a mask while visiting. “If there ever comes a day where we can’t be together, keep me in your heart. I’ll stay there forever.” Hager & Cundiff values nothing more than the trust given to us to care for Anna and the Mullins Family. When signing Anna’s Guest Book you will be able to see the Awards given to her which she was so proud to receive.
