She had the gift of hospitality and everyone always felt welcome in their home. She loved to entertain, dance, swim, bike, ski and travel, and enjoyed many family vacations.
Following Len’s retirement, they made their home in Arizona and enjoyed life in the desert; but eventually moved back to Minnesota to be closer to family. After losing her husband and being diagnosed with advanced glaucoma, Mary moved to Tennessee to be near her daughter, Toby. The Neighborhood in Tellico Village became her new home for the next 8 years. Her blindness may have slowed her down but it didn’t keep her from living life to the fullest. In spite of her circumstances, Mary never lost her positive nature or thankful attitude.
Church was a priority in her life and that didn’t change for Mary when she moved to Tennessee. Sundays were always a highlight and she quickly became a member and faithful attender of First Baptist Church of Tellico Village. She was full of love for Jesus, her family and friends and was loved by all who knew her.
It was such a blessing that Mary was able to move to Grace Home Care Manor in Knoxville where she lived out the last 2 months of her life. She was able to enjoy many visits with family before congestive heart failure finally took its toll. She will be missed!
