Janet was a member of the National Honor Society at Messick High School. She received her B. S. degree from Memphis State (now The University of Memphis) and received her Masters degree from Freed-Hardeman University. She taught photography for several years at Memphis Academy of Art. Janet taught English in the Memphis School system for ten years and retired as the coordinator of the Honors Program for the Memphis City Schools.
Janet was a seeker and explorer of life and truth. She was a talented photographer, painter, and writer. She was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church for many years and later was a member of an Episcopal parish in Bartlett, TN. Janet dedicated the majority of her life to caring for her children, Jana and Derek, and also her granddaughter, Gabe, who gave her immense joy and love.
